Luquan economic development zone was established in 1992. It has a great location, only 10 kilometers away from the city of Shijiazhuang. But due to the vagueness of the development zone’s overall plan and lack of leading and influential companies, only a few companies chose to locate in this region before 2000.

In line with the contemporary trend and regional characteristics, the United College Town has put forward the concept and planning of “integration of production, university and research” since the beginning of the project in 2000.

The planning of the entire park covers an area of 10,000 mu, with more than 0.5 million permanent residents. Since the United College Town’s completion in 2002, thanks to the resources platform, various colleges and high-tech companies quickly gather in Luquan Economic Development Zone where the College Town is located, pushing the regional economy grow rapidly.

Colleges like Shijiazhuang Preschool Teachers College and Shijiazhuang Preschool Teachers College have come to settle around The Union University Town. So far, the region boasts 4 higher education institutions and 7 primary and secondary schools, gradually forming aggregation of educational resources.

Film and Television Arts College of Hebei University, Sifang College of Shijiazhuang Tiedao Univercity, Huaxin College of Hebei GEO University, Shijiazhuang Institute of Technology, Hebei university of Chinese Medicine, Shijiazhuang Preschool Teachers College and Hebei Tongren Medical Secondary Specialized School.

Relying on the strengths of The Union University Town platforms, Luquan Development Zone has phased in high-tech institutions such as No. 13 and 54 Institutes of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation. Around the United College Town, the group has built several hotel and real estate programs such as Cuipingshan Guesthouse Hotel, with their values rising rapidly.

By the end of 2016, there are more than 150 enterprises in the development zone. It boasts over 60 scientific research institutions with more than 10,000 staff members. Those institutions specialize in areas such as semiconductor, communications, aviation remote sensing and modern agriculture, representing the top level in China.
